7th Annual Bruges Beer Festival
1-2 February 2014 (Saturday 12:00 – 22:00, Sunday 11:00 – 21:00)
Taking place in the historic market halls and inner courtyard of the Belfry of Bruges, one of the most stunning landmarks in all of Belgium, the Bruges Beer Festival brings together the country’s finest brewers for the connoisseur to enjoy.
The Bruges Beer festival has grown every year, 2014 will see over 65 breweries offering over 300 different beers to choose from; you will not be short of choice for the weekend. Simply pay €3* for a specially designed test glass (15cl) and €1.50* each for beer tokens (known as “jetons”) and sample the finest beers to your heart’s content.
Packages offered at the 2013 festival:
- 10€ package contains 1 glass, 3 Jetons, festival programme and 1 postal card*
- 20€ package contains 2 glasses, 8 Jetons, festival programme and 2 postal cards*
Also on hand will be 8 of Bruges’ top chefs, cooking gourmet food, specially selected to be paired with the varieties of beers showcased just for you, in the lower hall of the Belfry. In addition the chefs will be performing, live show-cooking demonstrations; the restaurant itself will also be on hand to entice you with delicious, freshly prepared food all weekend:
- Small plates = 6 jetons each – 2013 rates
- Large Plates = 9 jetons each – 2013 rates
Furthermore at the festival, there will be access to the outer terrace, located in the inner courtyard and live music to add to the unique atmosphere. Should you wish you can also visit the museum and ascend the 366 steps to the top of the Belfry tower and sample a breath-taking 360° view of Bruges.
Located in the Northwest of Belgium, Bruges is one of Europe’s most picturesque and historic cities. Known as “The Venice of The North”, the historic centre of Bruges is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the few canal based cities in Northern Europe.
Due to the city surviving both world wars intact, most of Bruges’ medieval architecture is still in pristine condition. If you fancy a wander around Bruges – before or after the festival - the city centre is awash with beautiful architecture, stunning sights, atmospheric pubs, bars, cafes and of course right at the heart of the historic centre, is the Belfry itself where the festival will be held. More information on the city can be found on http://www.brugestourism.co.uk/
